Question: will the recurring alarm bug affecting iOS devices going into daylight saving have any effect on those of us coming out of DST? Update: mine went off an hour late. Good thing it’s a Studio Morning.

“Tumblr needs to turn orange on October 31st, 2010.”
– evanleblanc It’ll be quite silly for something so trivial, but still: an orange Dashboard would be cool.

Triaged, sorted, and/or processed all the stuff that had been littering my desktop. It’s been quite a few months since it’s been clear. Empty and free of icons, just how I like it. I feel accomplished.

Marking all “X started using Y” messages on the News Feed as spam. I thought Facebook had decided that they won’t clog up our News Feeds like that anymore. They’re worse than “X scored 6000 points in Y”, because with those you could at least hide the individual app in the News Feed. These only give you the option to hide the person.

Mind just got blown: the sister has World of Warcraft on her laptop, and has played it. She says she only played it for a bit — “with a friend” — doesn’t play it regularly — if she says so — and won’t be touching it until the next expansion — she knows there’s one coming? Even I don’t know that! — but just the fact that it’s on her laptop is enough cause for...

Fluid 2 →
Gorgeous custom video player that dims the light when you start playing Custom photo viewer Archive viewable inside an iframe directly on the page Endless scrolling that remembers your position Et cetera Saw previews on Dribbble and was immediately hooked, just like when I first saw the original Fluid. The bottom toolbar — if you can call it a toolbar — is a bit borked on an iPad, e.g. the...

Buy a Custom Stamp and Claim a Spot on Gowalla →
Got a bit excited after reading Wallabee’s post, thinking I can finally get a custom stamp for my old school. Then realised this is targeted at businesses, i.e. people who actually own the place. And it’s — for now — only open to three metro areas in America.

Got a line from stuck in my head with absolutely no idea where it came from: For a moment there I’ve already forgotten your name. I think it’s a James Bond quote — I can hear and see M/Judi Dench saying it in my head — but I could be wrong. And even if I’m right, I can’t figure out which Bond it came from. Die Another Day? Google and IMDb are not helpful.

Watching F1: 2010 Korean GP
Wish I had gone to bed sooner last night. This is way too early. Stop talking over the team radio. Wait, even the safety car has ads on it now? Do the people in McLaren’s Mission Control have to wear uniform, or is it just for show for this weekend and they just work in their own clothes normally? Maybe it’s the rain, maybe it’s the late track, but it doesn’t feel like...

Just confirmed it with Mom’s MacBook. And no, the solutions involving keychains from years ago are not helpful.

Went to watch the new Wall Street. Starts out strong — I loved the setup — but compared to the tight first half, it gets a bit soft towards the end. Still, good stuff IMHO. I wanna watch the first one. Also: music from Plunkett & Macleane.

Imagine Mission Control on the iPad. What do you see? Card view on a webOS tablet/device. And then you consider the Palm team’s history with Apple, and wonder whether Card view came from Exposé. Point is: by explaining that Mission Control in Lion came from mashing Exposé and Spaces together, Apple can have Card view on their iOS devices without having to mention Palm. Nicely played. ...

Apple declares the new MacBook Air to be the “next generation of MacBooks”. Maybe they should’ve called it MacBook Heir then. YEEAAAAHH! I should stop playing Millionaire on repeat.

Following the Livestream: “Back to the Mac”
Sweet, there is a livestream. AutoCAD is a good start, but will 3ds Max come to the Mac? Thought PA would’ve asked people to silence their phones beforehand. Ooh… I love the iLife box… “Live full-screen” in iPhoto? More Facebook eh? New slideshow themes: so? I like this new Info panel. Auto book layout is now intelligent. Letterpress cards: but what graphics...

I love the idea of Facebook being our address book. It’s why I’ve been hoping and hoping that iOS would have some Facebook integration, and why I’m so interested in Palm’s webOS and Synergy. Windows Phone 7 has this, but I’m not sure I like how deep that integration goes. Contacts and phone numbers and email addresses are great, but given the many ways people on...

YouTube5 →
This beats YouTube’s HTML5 beta not just because it also supports the Flash-only videos, but because it also allows videos to be played full screen, which the HTML5 player won’t. It doesn’t seem to like the official Top Gear videos though. (via AppStorm)

Five Safari Extensions to Beautify Your Internets →
Wow. I’ve had AdBlock and Facebook Cleaner, but I’d never bothered to look any further into Safari Extensions. Don’t really like how µTube hides the thumbs up/down buttons though. If you’d asked me yesterday where to go for the best Internet experience, I’d say iPad. Today, I’m torn between iPad and Safari on the Mac.
