Just learnt about the <q> tag from the comments on Bray’s post. Mind slightly blown. It even automatically changes from double quotes to single quotes for <q> within <q>.
Ideally, this should accommodate for quotations in non‑English languages. The markup can tell the browser what language the page is in — because <q> supports the lang attribute — or we’ll end...

I’ve been using “, ”, ⌥+[ and ⌥+⇧+[ even since I learnt about it a few years ago, so it’s become second nature to me. Tumblr and Markdown and smart quotes in Pages do take care of it automatically, but I still type it in full out of habit.
