Quick thinking meant I managed to come up with a pretty damn good analogy/metaphor to explain something on the spot. Fuck yea. Ahh… The small innocent triumphs of life…

Watching F1: 2011 Brazilian GP
Unless Sky decides to do some special deal for F1 — hint: F1‑only Sky Go plan — this could very well be my last Brundle grand prix for the next five years. I’ll miss the Brundle quotes. I hope Seb wears that for the entire race. How is he breathing through that‽ It might not have mattered much to the final race result, but I was really hoping Rosberg could repeat his Q2 time. ...

Optimising Images / Optimizing Images →
karlvr: Tomato tomato. If you’re putting images into an application, especially a mobile application, or on the web, or anywhere, it’s a good idea to optimise them before you deploy. In an iOS application the larger your application is the longer it takes to download and install. If you go over the magic… Huh, never thought about that.

BBC Reveals F1 Coverage Schedule for 2012 →
I have to pay Rupert Murdoch £45 a month to get sports via Sky Go‽ Fuck no. Why can’t Bernie just sell directly to us instead? Update: Been checking Sky’s F1 site, and I’m not sure whether you can even get F1 with just Sky Go. Sounds like you need an actual TV subscription. Update 2: @SkySportsF1 aren’t sure.

Ben Whishaw Cast as Q in New James Bond Film... →
I grew up with Brosnan’s Bond, so a Q that isn’t significantly older than 007 is odd. I like it.

Frei Otto →
We met up with a bunch of Architecture fifth years on Monday. We each got paired up with one, and for our next project, we’re working on a part of their project. Essentially, they’re our clients. (By the way, their boards? Not the most comprehensible. One of theirs I could more or less completely understand, but not so much for the other eight. Wasn’t easy picking out the top...

Just finished the second Advertising and Marketing Communication tutorial. Why can’t all of my lecturers be as engaging as him? I’m interested in all four of my non-Product Design modules — or I wouldn’t have picked them in the first place — but AMC is definitely the one I’m most up for. Like, with the rest — Cognitive Ergonomics, Conservation and Recycling of Materials,...

The Tag →
Just learnt about the <q> tag from the comments on Bray’s post. Mind slightly blown. It even automatically changes from double quotes to single quotes for <q> within <q>. Ideally, this should accommodate for quotations in non‑English languages. The markup can tell the browser what language the page is in — because <q> supports the lang attribute — or we’ll end...

Better Quotes →
I’ve been using &ldquo;, &rdquo;, ⌥+[ and ⌥+⇧+[ even since I learnt about it a few years ago, so it’s become second nature to me. Tumblr and Markdown and smart quotes in Pages do take care of it automatically, but I still type it in full out of habit. What I don’t agree with though, is using &rsquo; or &#8217; as an apostrophe. I personally stick with &apos;...

Crit threw me off a bit. I usually do my boards so that they give a general overview of my design, and then fill in the gaps and the whys during my presentation. This time though, the tutors decided to just look at the boards for about thirty seconds, skip the talking and just go with Q&As. I didn’t get a chance to fully explain the reasoning behind my stuff. Bit annoyed. Would prefer to...
