The reason I started another game in Bridgeport was so that I could take a look at the clubs there. Having gone straight ahead to build my own without visiting the pre‑made Maxis ones, I thought mine was a bit crummy.
Turns out, nightclubs in Late Night are kinda crummy, although in their defense, they were built atop high-rises with very limited space. So yea, I guess I am relatively satisfied...

Changes Coming for Items →
Sounds good, and it’s great to hear Gowalla talking about items again. Was kinda getting worried that they were going to phase it out.
I especially like the first change regarding the vault. I prefer to travel my items, but I’ve vaulted items that have barely moved since it was awarded because I thought I’d never come across another one like it anymore.
And hopefully with the...

Apple to Open First Store in Hong Kong This Year →
Really?
This is especially interesting to me because I used to work at an Apple reseller in IFC Mall, the same mall that Apple is supposedly now planning to open their first Chinese Takeaway store in.

Apple Adds SSD TRIM Support to Mac OS X 10.7 Lion... →
AppleInsider, based on a report by MacGenerations:
The TRIM command is part of the ATA interface standard. So far, it appears Apple’s support in Lion is only activated for SSDs shipped by the company and not third party devices, but this is likely to be fleshed out more as Lion develops.
It’d be stupid to think that Lion won’t have TRIM support. Heck, I was surprised...

Just found the first casualty of my hard drive migration: one picture — the most recent one — in iPhoto has turned into a dashed outline. Oddly, even though I did tell Time Machine to do a backup right before I made the switch, the post-migration iPhoto Library package in ~/Pictures doesn’t have it either.
Good thing I didn’t get too excited and wiped my old drive and old library...

Apple Releases Developer Preview of Mac OS X Lion →
Apple:
Additional features in Lion include:
a new version of Mail, with an elegant, widescreen layout inspired by the iPad; Conversations, which automatically groups related messages into one easy to read timeline; more powerful search; and support for Microsoft Exchange 2010;
AirDrop, a remarkably simple way to copy files wirelessly from one Mac to another with no setup;
Versions, which...

I prefer the Halo 3 soundtrack’s approach of splitting each part into a separate track, rather than Reach’s approach of having one entire level to a track, à la volume two of Halo 2.
Dammit, I want to single out “Unreconciled” from Tip of the Spear!

Think I’ll start a new game in Bridgeport tomorrow — yea I gave in and bought Late Night — and have a poke around the clubs. Having trouble building one that I can consider to be satisfactory.

I wish Migration Assistant would do a software update after copying over all my files. That way the computer would literally be ready for use once the transfer is done. I had mistakenly thought I’d be set to go, but my iTunes library was unavailable, the Mac App Store apps and Magic Trackpad wouldn’t work at all or wouldn’t work properly because my copy of Snow Leopard was a...

Ah right… So an excessive amount of seeds in your backpack prevents you from going into the supermarket and stops your lot from showing up in the map view. Makes sense.

Just discovered this. Gameplay fixes, adjustments to existing Sims and a ton of other stuff? Will have to look into this a bit more — that manual is really long — and give it a try some time soon. For now: bed.

Pane Splitters Often Look Better →
Performance aside, this is the sort of attention to detail that makes Mac apps, Mac apps.

After building, demolishing, and restarting several times, I think I’ve finally got an extension that I’m fairly satisfied with. Then again, it’s quite different from the original vision I had and lacks some of the features that I’d wanted, plus bits of it still annoy me, so I may still tear it down.

A Rare Look Inside Pixar Studios
Can’t remember which one it was, but I think there was a more extensive studio tour video in the extras of one of the previous Pixar DVDs as well.
And I still haven’t seen Toy Story 3.

Papers 2 →
Not sure how other people managed their literature reviews, but I used Papers to find and keep track of all the articles I read, and it turned out to be very helpful. I liked it a lot. 8th March, hurry up.
It’s not coming to the Mac App Store yet though. Shame.
