Don’t understand the people that wore anything more than a t‑shirt today. Personally, I haven’t sweated like this in a very long time.

Right, Virgin’s been round, so I do at least have broadband for now. But they also said that they’ll have to “re-pull” the cable coming into the building and my flat at some point.

Windows Phone 7.5 “Mango” Update Begins →
Windows Phone Blog: If a problem comes to light, it’s critical that we can isolate and fix it quickly. So we’re deliberately starting out slow. This week, we’ll be making the update available to 10 percent of customers. If everything looks good, we’ll open up the spigot a bit more — to around 25 percent. We’ll hold there for one or two weeks, then quickly ramp up...

My new room is bigger, more spacious, and I’ve got a bigger, nicer desk, but it just doesn’t feel quite as nice as my old one. Maybe I need to settle in a bit more, get used to it, get acclimated, but this just… I miss my old room.

“Installed new update. Although FB, 4Sq, Twitter, Tumblr are connected,...”
– @zeldman (1, 2, 3) I don’t quite remember why I did it since I normally don’t, but I’m sure as hell glad I kept a copy of Gowalla 3 on my MacBook before updating. Never mind, it’s broken for Gowalla 3 as well.

Gowalla Logged Me Out and Won't Let Me Back In →
Don’t want to do this, but I have to go back to my old iPhone for now because the Gowalla app for Windows Phone has been broken since the G4 update on iPhone and Android. And I refuse to use Foursquare. I wonder if the webOS app might also be having similar problems.

And back to Nottingham I go. But why does travelling always has to be so stressful? Also, what happened to the “Post to Tumblr/Foursquare/Twitter/Facebook” buttons in Gowalla 4?

Watching F1: 2011 Singapore GP
I hope this thing won’t go into overtime, because I’ve got a train to catch after this. Eddie looks fantastic. I’d rather see Hulkenberg racing than standing behind the BBC presenters talking on German TV. “I hope he’s somewhere around his car.” You just walked past him, Martin. Talk with Hamilton on the grid? It’s been a while. Hmm, Martin didn’t grill...

Watching QI XL on TV, and I’m really proud of myself for knowing what an interrobang is. And I’d been using it somewhat regularly. Also I’m liking this sarcastrophe. Should use it.

Scientists “See” YouTube Videos in the Mind →
ABC News: Gallant’s coauthors acted as study subjects, watching YouTube videos inside a magnetic resonance imaging machine for several hours at a time. The team then used the brain imaging data to develop a computer model that matched features of the videos — like colors, shapes and movements — with patterns of brain activity. … If the technology could be used to broadcast imagery, it...

Roll Over Einstein: Pillar of Physics Challenged →
Associated Press: A pillar of physics — that nothing can go faster than the speed of light — appears to be smashed by an oddball subatomic particle that has apparently made a giant end run around Albert Einstein’s theories. … CERN says a neutrino beam fired from a particle accelerator near Geneva to a lab 454 miles (730 kilometers) away in Italy traveled 60 nanoseconds faster than the...

Vodafone Group to Roll Mango Out Tomorrow →
wpcentral: We now have a report over at Windows Smartphones in Germany that puts September 21st (that’s tomorrow) as the planned roll-out day for the Vodafone Group, according to a credible source. My Trophy is factory unlocked but used to be a German Voda…phone…fone…phone — I’m guessing it is since it shows a Vodafone logo when it boots up1 and had German as the default,...

Steve Weintraub: What is the last video game that you played?
Megan Fox: Halo. [laughs] You can ask my husband that question independently of me if he is out there. I have a complete addiction to that game. It is sick.
Steve Weintraub: Which version of Halo?
Megan Fox: I have Halo: Reach, but I am playing online. I don't really play in story mode anymore.
Steve Weintraub: Are you on Xbox Live?
Megan Fox: Yes.
Steve Weintraub: So you play with other people and they have no idea?
Megan Fox: They have no idea. They make fun of my gamer tag too because it is funny. And they are all a bunch of guys and it is clear that I am a girl so they make fun of my name, and they have no idea they are making fun of me.

So typing “elecreg.co.uk” into the browser — rather than “www.elecreg.co.uk” will land you on a blank page and you won’t get redirected. Well done Halarose, whoever the fuck you are. Also, should I be uncomfortable about a private company handling the voter registration process? Just feels like this should be something handled by the council/government, and them alone.

Gowalla Reborn As a Beautiful App for Travel and... →
I’d once described Gowalla as “warm and fuzzy”. This makes it even more so. Also: I wonder if this new iOS version will be universal and merge the existing, separate iPhone and iPad apps.
