What I want out of the “Back to the Mac” event tomorrow:

  • That updated UI infused with bits of iOS
  • The revamped iDisk many others are looking forward to
  • Parity between rules in Mac OS X’s Mail and MobileMe’s webmail
  • Syncing browser history between Mac OS X and iOS
  • The return of tabs-on-top in Safari
  • Resolution independence: not just because I want denser and denser displays, but also because I’m very curious how — if — Apple can pull off a pleasant-to-use 11‑inch laptop; I think this is going to play some part towards that goal
  • TRIM support: because even if I can’t afford a >500 GB SSD — or a SSD, period — right now, I still want my OS to be ready for when I can

Personally I’m not particularly bothered about new MacBook Airs. I’m more interested in a thinner 15‑inch MacBook Pro sans internal optical drive, with a slimmer battery spread all over that space. Feel free to get rid of the “thicker” ports like ethernet.

Also: still no word on a live broadcast of tomorrow’s event?
