I am very much in favour of a taller screen on the iPhone, without changing the current form factor.

Coming back from Windows Phone, one of the biggest things I’ve noticed is that iOS is very cramped. Very. On Windows Phone, the back navigation button has been moved off the screen itself, the status bar at the top is barely there, the title bar and the tab bar merge into one to form Metro’s “panoramic view”, and the UI favours using text size and spacing to denote hierarchy, rather than graphical elements and borders. This gives Windows Phone much less visual clutter and a more airy feel. But more importantly, when coupled with the fact that Microsoft’s chassis spec mandates the use of 480 × 800 displays — an aspect ratio that is taller than iPhone’s 2:3 — you end up with a lot more room in the middle for the main content, physically and visually. I doubt Apple will be abandoning their current aesthetics and moving in Microsoft’s direction for their UI, so a taller screen is the only way to give the stuff in the middle more prominence.

The other thing is notifications. Right now, those flipping banners obscure most of the title bar, which is very inconvenient when they’re blocking off 90% of the back button. With a taller screen, I imagine Apple can implement webOS-style notifications — where the apps shrank and scooted up a bit for the notification to slide in underneath — much more easily. (If they’d done that with current 2:3 screens, then there would’ve only been about half of the screen left for content once you take the status bar, title bar, tab bar, and notification banner into account.)

The 27-page agreement calls for Bungie to develop four “sci-fantasy, action shooter games”, codenamed “Destiny”, released every other year, beginning in the fall of 2013. Bungie also agreed to put out four downloadable expansion packs, codenamed “Comet”, every other year beginning in the fall of 2014. Activision has never disclosed release plans for Bungie’s titles.

The first Destiny game will initially only be available on Microsoft’s Xbox 360 consoles, as well as its potential successor, which the contract refers to as the “Xbox 720”. Later games would be made for Xbox consoles as well as Sony Corp.’s expected successor to the PlayStation 3, and on personal computers.

If it’s coming out in 2013, how much will we hear about it at E3 this year, if at all?

And then on my way home while waiting outside the Tube station, there was a crazy lady being a crazy lady, standing in the doorway of a bus, swearing and spouting nonsense, kicking the driver’s door every now and again, and just holding everybody up. Was going to get a video of it, but then decided to let her be a bitch in private rather than be a bitch on the Internet.

But thinking back, probably should’ve notified the police. Or at least faked a call to the po‑po really loudly so that she can hear me, and see how she’d react. Would she turn aggressive on me, or would she walk away? That would’ve been entertaining.
